From the point of arrival at our premises to
the moment it leaves, Primafruit recognises
the importance of how fruit is handled,
stored and packed. We have made significant
investments to establish a modern,
custom-built facility
dedicated to handling high volumes of soft
fruit imports. The site is
centrally located in the UK at our Head
Office in Evesham, with excellent links to
the distribution network
and
extends to 20,000 sq metres.
With parking for over 20 heavy goods
vehicles,
the site comprises
administration offices,
an intake area,
five
individual temperature-controlled chillers,
three dedicated ripening rooms, an
extensive packhouse and a distribution area
designed for efficiency of dispatch.
As well as storage for over
1,600
pallets, the production area has throughput
for up to 400 pallets per day and the
distribution area can dispatch up to 700
pallets per day.
On arrival, fruit is offloaded through five
unloading bays into the intake chiller area,
stacked for QC inspection and then
transported to other chillers for storage,
or to the Distribution Area for immediate
dispatch.
Located in a dedicated QC room, the
QA team conducts rigorous tests on all fruit
at various stages to ensure conformance with
the specifications defined by our customers.
The three ripening rooms can be used to
enhance or
delay
the natural ripening process using
computerised temperature, humidity and
atmosphere
controlled systems to ensure that products
are dispatched to customers at the optimal
stage of ripeness.
The production area is the most
labour-intensive area of the site and
contains the pre-packing and sorting
machinery needed to prepare well-presented
products for point of sale.
The
nine
loading bays in the distribution area ensure
efficient, timely dispatch of produce for
onward delivery to customers.
